Hello! More First Impressions
Hey everyone! I just jumped on the PiggyBacker scheme after hearing about it through DangerouslyFunny's YouTube video. I've been interested in Kynseed for a fair while but thought I had missed the boat on backing the game. I'm just opening the beta for the first time and I'll be tabbing back and forth to write my first impressions as I think of them. Here goes...
Upon seeing the opening beta warnings page, I already appreciate the sense of humour. I'm picking the male character for this run, as I'm not personally a fan of the hair bobs (doesn't mean I don't like the art style, though). The opening scenes are very pretty. My first discovery is how to moonwalk: holding down LMB in one direction while walking in another. I find the mouse icons (differentiating between left and right) confusing as I couldn't tell whether the grey or the white side is the one meant to be pressed.
I like the click-and-slide radial selection. It feels very natural and I imagine it translates to controllers very well (although I'm using keyboard and mouse). I'm a little confused as to why reading signs needs its own key rather than a mouse click. Oh it lets you see the status of everything around you. Hmm I'm surprised that's lumped in with reading, but I guess I'll get used to it as I go.
Just finished Day 1. The number of tasks felt about right for the time given. The dandelion clock is confusing me though; I thought when it ran out, that was the end of the day, but I'm down to two stalks after just walking to Candlewych. I'm currently wondering about inventory size as my hotbar is filling up quickly.
On Day 3 the Supps got stuck walking into their closed door, which for some reason I can walk straight through. I'm finding the days don't feel long enough if you're trying to get places; I'm not sure if that's intentional or not. Still having trouble telling the time XD Had a couple of issues with stuttering music, but to be perfectly honest that might be my laptop flagging rather than the game.
Decided to stop here for now, but I'm liking it very much so far.
