Will there be any farm upgrades or addons? Can we choose farm plot locations? Will the player home be customizable in any way? I would love to see where the devs stand on this. :)

We want farm customisation but have to be careful and think about how best to do it.
Customisation will not happen during the Prologue, so we have time to think on this (as you don't own the starting farm).
We could offer pre-set places (fairly easy to do), let you create them anywhere (much trickier) or one idea id that Mr Fairweather could offer new farm 'templates'...same farm but with a bigger house and more growing space etc.
There will also be things you can buy to upgrade and add in equipment to the farm, like a jam making machine or things to help do the farming and so on.
i really enjoy the ability to use different 'templates' for farming. It allows a chance to make things feel 'fresh' through the different lifetimes. i wouldn't mind having different sections reserved for farming, especially if it's possible to tweak orientations on there. In my imagination it's like the entire western side of the farm might be farmable, yet you can choose to build, like, kegs or something in place of planting crops.
Templates should work fine for this game with all the other jobs you can do. Being able to choose any location is a big deal to be since I doubt I will focus much time on farming. I like farming but I think the other businesses will interest me more.
I personally feel it should be close the real life in how farms grow. The protagonist in the family slowly build up the land and the estate. Maybe with some Fae help later on you can add some very interesting modifications but it something grows with the generations as they add something new to the farm.
Just noticed I didn't even give any input on this. Well then.
I don't think the farm customisation should be too big of a thing. This game shouldn't be a copy of Stardew Valley after all.
Also, I don't like the idea of a complicated system. Customisation shouldn't be overused in my opinion.
I am of agreement, but there should be some just so people have the option to make it feel more homely.
Well I disagree on this last point. Sure Kynseed should never become stardew, but
I have personally played so many games where you are given in farming what you may do and are prohibited to play otherwise and I am not tempted to go through this another time.
What I like most in erics concept is that you have space and you can do with it whatever you like. If you want to become a bee farmer and only do honey and flowers then please go ahead.
Because Kynseed offers so many lifetimes I am really looking forward to that in my personal wishes for role playing.
Farming is one of the concepts I look forward to the most and I wish to be able to have lifetimes where I can play a really peculiar Child of mine which thinks that making jam is the answer to the universe or animal hoarding or whatever. The more freedom you give in customization makes it have more replay value for me. And be sure I am curious to do this with every other aspect (f.e. the jobs) of kynseed as well.
Where the farm is I find not as important but that I can have as many plots, machines, animals (barns? or a different concept) I like in the given space and the freedom to place them how I like.
Should there be concepts (travel time) that would make it preferable to have the home in another village then a second house would be a good idea I think. No need to move the farm per se.
With Kynseed, the freedom of choice is what drives us, so if you want a bee farm, or to run a pet store, or just tend to your herbs and mix cures....then you can do.
We will give you multiple villages so you can run businesses in a different way should you wish....or just remain in the Vale happy in your lot.
Totally up to you. We won't make you or tell you to do anything.
I think this is one of those really subjective topics that there will never be any right way to do it.
For instance, for me personally, all I wanna do is customise my living space. If stuff on the lots have designated areas, that's cool with me, as long as I can decorate a bit in my house to show off my accomplishments, I'm good.
I think if you guys have achievements, vanity decorations for them would be cool. Nothing too flashy, just a 'That's my statue for doin' stuff' kinda thing.
