Hello--
Thanks for letting us play through the beta. This game looks really cool and ever since I saw it on Kickstarter, I've been looking forward to giving it a try. I was hesitant to play because I don't want to "spoil" myself for when it actually releases, but it looks really good in its current state so I downloaded it, played it and here are some thoughts I have. It looks really cool and I like it so far!
-the middle mouse button works the opposite of how i'd expect, ie choosing items from the item bar by scrolling goes in the opposite direction. also, sometimes it works but sometimes not. it seems like if i'm holding an apple, i can't scroll through items. also, why do the items have numbers? i tried pressing the number key in order to quick select the button, but that doesn't seem to work.
-it would offer great affordance if the mouse changed appearance when you mouseover something that can be interacted with. some signs can be interacted with, some can't. some people can, some can't. some objects can, some can't. it's hard to tell which
-would you consider limiting the horizontal length of a sentence when reading a book? perhaps something like TES skyrim does, create a book that you read from? i have a wide screen and it's awkward to read really long lines
-signs: are they just for looks? dad told me to follow the signs and i can't actually read them. i got lost a lot
-i would love to be able to jump short fences like in this photo. :) Attachment 105
-is there really no way to save your game and continue? i tried to interact with every book i could. i had to leave for work and i wanted to come back and continue, but it looks like i have to restart
-i love the variety of flowers in the world. the tall grasses are really fun to walk through (i wish they all moved like those in the intro scene). i like collecting danelions (no idea what it does yet, if anything. don't care.) it's really satisfying to shake trees and bushes and collect the various fruits. i like how the trees move in the breeze. this game is really pretty.
-i met a lot of people who have generic names--is this the beginning of some kind of procedurally generated villager system? it looks GREAT and i'm very excited for this.
-speaking of interacting with people, i think when you first hold the mouse button, if you let go immediately, it shouldn't choose anything. there were a number of times that i accidentally clicked on a person and it would open a random one of the four options because my mouse moved a pixel in that direction. letting go of the mouse button in the middle should just cancel out.
Thanks for letting us have access to the Beta!
